DON’T LOSE IT IN TRANSIT

You have no idea how creating my first blog got me excited in the past few days; That excitement has encouraged me to look more deeper into public relations profession through binoculars in public relations. w. I understand how exciting it is to be familiar with various social media platforms and how educated does it feels like to have a social media account. And how clever does it seem to use these social media accounts for our personal experiences. That can be: to brag about where we at, what are we doing and who are we with, and our relationship statuses. While doing that it is important to remember that our future starts today, that means we start building our tomorrow today.

lets take a look at more relevant do's and don'ts on social media

We need to be very careful on how we use social media, that includes what we say, what kind of pictures and videos do we upload on our social media accounts. For a word of advice; keep your private life private because that’s exactly what it is “private”……yes private. It is very important for us to remember who we are or soon to be and we must not forget  what our profession is all about. We are tools of discipline in which we look after reputation with the aim of: earning, understanding, support and influence opinion and behaviour. Hence it is important for us to be very careful on how we present our self to the public especially on social media.

SOCIAL MEDIA DO'S AND DON'TS TIPS

  • Never  bad mouth your institution or university on social media, because your future employees might be scared to hire you because they will be wondering what will you say about the organizations if the is something that is not going well within the organizations

  •  You can share important and information or news on social media like sharing an article that shows Ebola precautions on Facebook.

  •  You can sell yourself on social media tell people what you good at it can be singing,  writing, wood craft, poetry anything that is positive and you really can do.

  • Don’t ever use social media for personal attacks because that does not only ruin your  reputation but also your dignity. No one will want to hire like a lion or swear. That is indirectly to your future employees you can turn their organization into

You must have witnessed the power of social media with your own eyes on the 8th of August this year, when earth quake occurred in Northwest, Mpumalanga, Botswana, Gauteng etc. It just took a minute to have the news running through the social media .within a second after the earth quake stopped news with evidence of photographs was already running through various social media platforms. That could have cost journalists time, transport, equipment, interview, different sources and a lot of money to gathered and get those news running for us. We have became our own news generators hence we are now called  pro-summers of news.  You walk around; campuses, malls’ taxi ranks, parks etc. You will find people smiling, frowning and blushing with their phones or iPads while spreading the word, so do you think we still need journalist? NO... .Come on... you know get what i am talking about.  WINK
